  • Wrote headlines that made it easy for people using online searches to find our stories

  • Wrote more than 70 articles and briefs for the website and weekly print edition

Reporter, Columbia Missourian, August 2011 to May 2012

  • Covered environmental issues and city government
  • Wrote several long-term projects including one about treated sewer water infiltrating city drinking wells

Intern, Loveland Reporter-Herald, Summer of 2011

  • Regularly wrote front page features and breaking news stories that ran on the Reporter-Herald’s front page
  • Wrote several articles picked up by The Denver Post, Boulder Daily Camera and other Colorado newspapers

News editor, The Maneater student newspaper, May 2010 to May 2011

  • Covered the crime and courts beat for a year before becoming an editor at The Maneater, MU’s student newspaper
  • Pitched and edited all crime content, including stories about arrests of top MU athletes and murder cases
  • Coached new writers on framing stories, news writing and turning stories in on deadline


Without thinking twice, I can copy edit, use Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to promote content, get a conversation started and find sources. I can also file open records requests, use Photoshop, Google Analytics, Microsoft Access, Adobe InCopy, InDesign and Storify.

Give me a few minutes to brush up, and I can edit video, do basic HTML and edit audio.
